The recently opened New World in Churton Park provides a much needed facility for a growing suburb. The architectural language of the market and wider Retail Village is reflective of its suburban setting whilst staying true to the values of a New World supermarket. The detailing of the external facade strikes a balance between the raw and the machined, with expressed natural materials adding richness and warmth to the commercial shopfront.
The interior design of the store is a result of the on-going close collaboration between Architecture HDT and Foodstuffs. The extensive use of natural materials, colour and bold lighting and signage set the store apart from the traditional corporate idea of a supermarket. The manipulation of space through shaped bulkheads and canopies provide focal points within the store and enhance the retail experience. |
